WELCOME TO THE RACE TEAM ALLIANCE®

Our mission is to provide an organization through which its members can collectively preserve, promote, and grow the sport of stock car racing and thereby advance the long term interests of the racing teams.

The Race Team Alliance® was formed in the summer of 2014 by racing industry leaders.

The RTA® membership currently consists of the 15 NASCAR Cup Teams which field 36 full-time cars in the stock car racing premier series.

The RTA is a forum for open dialogue among its race Team members about issues of common interest, provides a point of contact for those who wish to engage with the Teams collectively and a vehicle through which the Teams can speak with a single, common voice.

The RTA works collaboratively for the betterment of the sport and to create value for its members and their partners.

With labor peace in NASCAR, RTA chairman Rob Kauffman to step down after decade-long run

By Adam Stern, Sports Business Journal
April 3, 2026

“RTA Chairman Rob Kauffman is planning to step down from his position, capping a more than decade-long run in charge of the coalition of NASCAR teams that spearheaded the formation of the now crucial charter system.”

“Hendrick Motorsports Vice Chairman Jeff Gordon wrote in an email to SBJ that Kauffman 'brought a level of business acumen and global perspective that was really important, especially in the early days of the RTA.”

“As the RTA looks to the future, the question is what are the key priorities to keep growing team values and the sport overall. Now that there is greater team stability via the charter system becoming permanent, Kauffman said that what he views as the next stage for the RTA is to focus on promoting and growing the sport.”
